Learn to safely pose newborns using natural window light, and business principles to start or apply to your newborn photography business. Instructor, Robin Long, author of “purebaby® - Newborn Photography Guide to Posing and Business” will help you learn how to pose newborns in a pure and safe way, while teaching you how to work with natural window light. Baby safety is Robin’s #1 Priority when teaching new and seasoned photographers. She will teach you what you need to do and look for to safely pose newborns. Exposure, metering, white balance and understanding your histogram will be covered as she helps you to master a proper exposure.

Duration | One-Day + 2 hour second day beach session- Newborn Workshop (total of 10.5 hours of instruction)

Time | Day One: 8:30am-5:30pm (studio setting)
Day Two: 9:00am-11:00 (beach setting - contingent on weather conditions)
Location | Oahu, Hawaii
Deposit | $300 to hold your seat. Remaining balance is due by May 18, 2012.
Tuition | $1500 (military families & PPA Members receive a $300 discount, making it $1200}
Skill Level | Beginner to Intermediate. Advanced photographers are welcome, but may consider scheduling a 1:1 mentoring class to focus more on individual needs.
Materials Needed | DSLR with “over-the-head” camera strap, 35-50mm lens, macro lens (optional), Memory Cards, Laptop (optional)
Class Size | Limited to 7 students + host
Requirements | A basic understanding of ISO, Shutter, and Aperture using Manual Mode. Students should be familiar with using Photoshop.

Course Outline
Day One will consist of three newborn models, with a total of five hours posing instruction with baby safety, baby tools, and soothing techniques. Robin will demonstrate her pose-to-pose™ transitional techniques as she helps guide you through different set ups on the beanbag and using props. One hour will be instruction on set up, camera settings, natural window light, and exposure. The remaining two and a half hours will be instruction on prepping the parents in the pre-consultation session, business principles, marketing your business with SEO techniques and Social Media, and digital workflow.
Day Two will consist of one newborn model beach session, with a total of two hours on posing instruction with baby safety in an outdoor natural light beach location. (please note: beach session is contingent on weather conditions).
INSTRUCTOR: Photographer/Writer, Robin Long is a Multi award-winning photographer based in Salem, Oregon. Robin is a member of PPA and a Charter Member of NAPCP. Her work is recognized internationally by the pure, natural, and organic style she portrays. She is the author of purebaby® Newborn Photography Guide to Posing and Business.
